We took this trip to celebrate our first year anniversary. We went to Rome first and then went to London. We saw many Roman antiquities and took some pics. We believe that we can still see so many antiquities because all Italian also have two important characteristics are LAZY & SLOW…... Of course, we cannot clarify what they think, but one thing I can confirm is Italian Gov’t will not destroy any of their antiquities, not like Hong Kong Gov’t destroyed Central Ferry Pier and has been continuously recovering land from Hong Kong Harbour. The most memorable thing was we participated one mass at St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican. The mother church of the world's 500 million Roman Catholics. Apart from the impressive architecture, the cathedral also gave us a very peaceful feeling even millions of people visit everyday. We also went to the Vatican Museums guided by local tour. There are millions of fine art collection. After we enjoyed the five days trip in Italy, we went to London. We waited almost two hours outside Buckingham Palace. The purpose was to watch the Changing the Guard ceremony. This is where one member of Queen's Guards exchanges duty with the previous guard. Both guards are dressed in traditional red tunics and bearskin hats, and the ceremony is set to music. The occasion was serious but the Queen’s Guards were humorous. Every body assumed that the Guards would play the national anthem, but..... oh NO!! It was the pop song “Killing Me Softly”. This performance induced everyone to belly laugh. I believe the British Gov’t wants to represent actually all Britons also have humorous characters. p.s.: I like this trip very very much….. hee.......
